What it means

Anthropic returns HTTP 529 with type overloaded_error when its API is temporarily overloaded. It is a server-side capacity problem, not a problem with your request or your account.

How to fix it

1. Retry with exponential backoff. The official SDKs retry automatically.
2. Check the live chart on this page. If many users report 529 at the same time, wait for the spike to pass.
3. For production traffic, add a fallback model or provider.
